Time is of the essence for clubs because there is limited amounts of it left in the summer transfer window, which closes at 11pm BST on Friday. If a deal stalls, it could leave squads and balance sheets short of what is required.
Tottenham have seen their move for Brennan Johnson hit the skids, so are looking at alternatives. One winger that could fit the bill is Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, although the Eagles will put up a fight to keep hold of their star man. Another candidate is Ansu Fati after the winger was told he could leave Barcelona for pastures new. Contrarians Brighton, however, might have stolen a march on Spurs and could snap up the winger on loan.
West Ham are aiming to bolster their striking options in the next 48 hours and Hugo Ekitiké of Paris Saint-Germain is in talks. The French forward is available on loan or a permanent deal and could arrive in London before the close of the window, though Eintracht Frankfurt, Brentford and Crystal Palace are also keen. The Hammers are also working on a deal for Yuri Alberto – discussions are ongoing with the Brazilian club Corinthians over the 22-year-old. David Moyes is likely to offer Jesse Lingard a short-term deal too after the former Hammers midfielder proved his worth in training after leaving Nottingham Forest this summer. Another target for West Ham and their crack negotiators is Ronnie Edwards of Peterborough, who will inevitably be available for the right price.
Tanguy Ndombele is set for another season-long move to Italy after Tottenham entered talks with Genoa over a loan deal for the midfielder, who is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans in north London. There could be another option for the Spurs man, with Internazionale enquiring about his availability.
There is an obvious need for reinforcement in the Manchester United midfield but they do not seem too eager to pay for the privilege. Sofyan Amrabat is a key target for Erik ten Hag but Fiorentina want £30m to let their man go and United are offering a head shake in return.
Relegation does little for most clubs but Southampton have had a field day selling their stars this summer. The latest to attract big-money interest is the defender Armel Bella-Kotchap, who is wanted by not one but two German giants in the form of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. West Ham United have leapt to the front of the queue for Juventus defender Filip Kostic, with the player giving his approval to the transfer.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say there are ‘hot hours’ ahead for the player as he’s made it clear he is happy to join West Ham before tomorrow’s deadline.
The website explains that the Hammers ‘leap to the front’ of the queue of suitors for Kostic, who also has admirers in Spain.
There are several possible exits on the table for the Serbian and clubs in either country could ‘conclude an operation’ worth around €15m.
According to CM.it’s information, it is West Ham who have a ‘concrete chance’ of closing the information and there is a belief that they could ‘lead an assault’ in the coming hours.
Kostic is very popular with manager David Moyes, who wanted to sign him last season, and would value his experience being added to his squad.
There are plans today for the various parties and intermediaries to sit down and ‘find a solution’ that sees Juventus sell, something they are happy to do.
They’re asking for West Ham to pay at least €10m, a figure the Hammers are willing to pay, although they need to secure a sale first.
The experienced winger contributed to 3 goals and 12 assists across all competitions last season.
He has proven his quality at the highest level over the years and he is certainly good enough to play for a club like West Ham.
Work is seemingly underway to make that happen, and they are boosted by the fact Kostic has given his preference to them, and a move to the Premier League in the process.

On Wednesday, iG Esporte stated West Ham United have shifted their focus to Flamengo star Pedro after Corinthians rejected their offer for Yuri Alberto.
SBT Sports journalist Lucas Pedrosa claims former Werder Bremen defender Naldo Rodrigues is representing West Ham in Brazil, and he negotiated a deal for Alberto but the operation didn’t take shape.
He adds David Moyes’ side have now set their sights on Fluminense’s André, who had received an offer from Liverpool earlier this month.
Pedrosa claims the Europa Conference League winners have informed the Brazilian club they’ll match the Reds’ offer.
The figures aren’t mentioned but earlier claims stated Liverpool tabled a €30m bid for the midfielder. The journalist adds Naldo was authorised by the London club to ‘present the proposal’ to sign André.
Fluminense want to keep the 22-year-old until the end of this year and the reporter says West Ham have accepted this condition.
Pedrosa has approached Fluminense for an update but hasn’t received a response from them yet.
West Ham have less than 48 hours to strike an agreement with the South American club, and if they do, Pedrosa claims the Hammers will allow André to continue at Fluminense until the end of this year.

West Ham handed transfer chance as club ‘desperately looking’ for a sale – Opportunity there to get Moyes target

West Ham United may have been handed their opportunity to finally get striker Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla, with the Spanish side ‘desperately looking’ to secure a sale.
That’s according to Mucho Deporte, who say Sevilla need an exit before Friday’s deadline to do their own business and En-Nesyri is part of the list of players who could move on.
He’s again found himself as the subject of interest this summer, specifically from West Ham, who have tried very hard to sign him over the last two years.
The Moroccan striker has rejected them on both occasions, but it was reported earlier this month that he was now more receptive to the idea than he once was.
That was followed by claims West Ham were talking to Sevilla about a move, with them needing to add a striker to David Moyes’ squad after selling Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta.
There’s been little to no progress on the matter since then and Mucho Deporte do insist that for now ‘there on no movements’ when it comes to En-Nesyri.
However, they make it clear that Sevilla are ‘desperately looking for a sale’ before the end of the window as they need to make room in their salary cap to finish adding players to ‘shore up’ their squad.
They’re currently blocked from doing so but getting rid of a player like En-Nesyri, who is a big earner and can bring in a big sum, would help to unblock matters. They can’t do any business ‘unless there is a sale’.
That means there is a perfect opportunity in front of West Ham to make another bid and strike an agreement with Sevilla for a player they’ve long been after.
Sevilla certainly need the money and the Hammers have it to spend after selling Scamacca, so En-Nesyri may be a name to keep an eye on once again in the final hours of the window.
